This module marks the beginning of the Community Health Nursing Science component of the Bachelor of Nursing (BN) program, offered in the first semester. The module is designed to equip nursing students with the knowledge, skills, and values essential for promoting health and preventing disease among healthcare users across the lifespan.
The module explores theories and approaches to health promotion and disease prevention, the guiding principles of health promotion, and strategies for illness prevention at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Students engage with three diverse local communities affiliated with the program, providing them with practical opportunities to interact and collaborate with these communities throughout the module.
The three affiliated communities to the program are Austerville, Cato Crest, and Point. Each student in the group is assigned to each of the communities for the duration of the year.A warm welcome to the module, and no doubt you will have a rewarding experience in the communities while shaping your professional and academic development in 2025.
