The purpose of this module is to enable students to understand the theoretical base, practical principles and broad concepts underlying Supply Chain Management. Students will be able to identify problems and find solutions to the problems encountered in supply chain management. This module aims to provide students with a sound decision making ability in the supply chain field. This will manifest as innovative thinking in the various areas of supply chain management. The module consists of three main parts, namely: (1) The building blocks of supply chain strategy, (2) Designing the global supply chain; and (3) Collaborating across the supply chain.

The course will be facilitated using a combination of lectures, case study discussions, and small group activities. At all times students will be encouraged to critically debate theoretical topics within practical South African organisational and SADC/International contexts.
