Module Aims:

The module provides integrated knowledge and understanding through critical enquiry of the histories and theories of architecture, urbanism and human settlements of Africa and the global contexts.

Content:

The content of the module is a thematic exploration of history of human settlements and contemporary theories and principles of architecture and urbanism.  It draws on theoretical and methodological models from Africa and the developing world as well as Western theoretical perspectives. The module focuses on the following thematic learning areas: Culture; Community; Conflict; Consumption; - Urban Futures.
